[miningmx.com] – THE South African government recognised the importance of the mining sector to the economy and was “working hard” to end a strike by the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU).

Pravin Gordhan, finance minister, told Bloomberg News at the World Economic Forum in Davos over the weekend that: “The mining sector is crucial to the South African economy”.
