Wescoal awarded mining right for Intibane

[miningmx.com] — COAL junior Wescoal said on Monday it has been awarded a mining right for its Intibane colliery, close to Witbank.

The group said it is already at an advanced stage of mine planning for the colliery, with mining expected to commence in the latter half of 2012 and the first coal expected to be available in early 2013.

The asset has an inferred resource of 2.14 million tonnes and indicated resource of 1.84 million tonnes.

“The coal resources at Intibane Colliery is a further step towards Wescoal’s stated production goal of 4 million tonnes of coal produced per annum by 2016,” read a company statement.
