[miningmx.com] — IMPALA Platinum (Implats) was still deciding on whether or not it would press ahead with the R10bn Afplats Leeuwkop project near Brits in the North West province.
Company executive Johan Theron told parliament’s mining portfolio committee on Wednesday that a decision on the project would be made by February, but “nothing has been decided yet’.
“It is not just the finance of the project,’ said Theron. “It is the economy. The world is in a tight spot at the moment.’
He said a decision on investing further in Leeuwkop would involve taking a long term view of where the global economy was heading.
