Glitches may delay Numsa strike resolution

[miningmx.com] – A DISPUTE between employer organisations in the metals and engineering sector may hold up a resolution to a strike that was edging to a resolution, said BDLive.

The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) and National Employment Association of SA may even end up in court, said BDLive. The two are disputing whether to offer 8% or Seifsa’s 10% offer.

There is also a potential sticking point for the union that called the strike, the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) which wants to omit a clause in the agreement that would prevent it from bargaining at plant level on issues with cost implications that the national deal does not cover.
