Kumba, NUM/Solidarity sign wage deal

[miningmx.com] – KUMBA Iron Ore said it had signed a three-year wage agreement providing increases to members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Solidarity between 7.5% and 10%.

“While robust and challenging, this demonstrates that the bargaining system is sound and capable of delivering negotiated agreements that take the needs and priorities of all parties into account,” said Norman Mbazima, CEO of Kumba.

The agreement is effective from July until 30 June 2017 and provides for increases of
between 8.5% and 10% in the first two years and between 7.5% and 9% in the third, Kumba Iron Ore said.
