[miningmx.com] – LONMIN hired turnaround specialist Johan Viljoen as its chief operating officer as part of a management shakeup aimed at helping the company recover from a five-and-a-half month strike earlier this year.
The operating officer role was a newly created position and replaces two roles now vacated by out-going Lonmin employees Mark Munroe and Natascha Viljoen, said news wire Reuters in an article today.
Reuters quoted Lonmin CEO Ben Magara as saying that Viljoen had “useful insights in the changing mining industry labour landscape”. Viljoen was previously at Gold Fields, Anglo American and AngloGold Ashanti, said Reuters.
