[miningmx.com] – THE Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) wants to explore the possibility of its members buying a share in assets that Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) wants to sell, said BDLive.
Citing the union’s treasurer, Jimmy Gama, BDlive said the notion was for workers at the platinum mines to use their provident funds as security for finance. Gama told BDLive it was an idea motivated by workers.
“We need to explore various ways that will benefit the workers because the emphasis is that there should be no employees who will lose their jobs after this transition,” Gama told BDLive.
