Platinum volatility at lowest in 9 years

[miningmx.com] – VOLATILITY in platinum trading was at its lowest level in nine years, said Bloomberg News signalling diminishing interest in the metal amid concerns regarding economic growth in Europe.

“The interest is diminishing as people are worried about Europe,’ Bart Melek, the head of commodity strategy at TD Securities in Toronto, told the newswire service.

“We expect prices to remain weak unless the stimulus program announced by the ECB is able to boost growth,’ he said.

Platinum and sister metal, palladium, are used in the manufacture of autocatalysts fitted to automobiles.
