BHP donates $400,000 to fight Ebola

[miningmx.com] – BHP Billiton has donated $400,000 to help fight the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa with the funds to be provided to the Pooled World Health Organisations Ebola Response fund.

“It [the Ebola outbreak] is both a direct and indirect humanitarian disaster impacting on every person living in the affected countries including our employees and contractors past and present,’ said Graham Reynolds, business director for BHP’s West Africa Iron Ore.

The contribution from BHP will provide immediate actions to support affected countries and will provide interventions in neighbouring at risk countries until December 2014, the group said in a statement.
