Keaton ups coal 5% at Vanggatfontein

[miningmx.com] – THERMAL coal production at Keaton Energy’s Vanggatfontein mine in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province was 5% higher at 1.2 million tonnes for the first half of the firm’s 2015 financial year.

The major improvement in output, however, was at the firm’s Vaalkrantz metallurgical coal mine in KwaZulu-Natal province. The mine, which is known for its geological issues, produced 24% more coal or 191,898 tonnes in the half-year.

” With another record period of safe production, growth and cash generation we move forward confidently to execute our growth projects whilst maintaining our long-life cash generating assets at optimal production levels,’ said Mandi Glad, Keaton Energy CEO.
