[miningmx.com] – ZWELINZIMA Vavi, general-secretary of the Congress of South Africa Trade Unions (Cosatu) was not doing enough to help Cosatu affiliate, the NUM regain members from platinum belt employees, said BDLive citing a NUM member.
“When this thing started it was rivalry of unions and it did not have any political element, but since then he has not been that supportive,” said a NUM official from the North West, Sanki Molefe, in an interview with BDLive.
“We strongly felt that he hasn’t done enough because the situation is not yet stable; we still have some of our members who are not yet reporting at their workplaces,’ he said.
The NUM lost more than 40,000 members to the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, said BDLive.
