
[miningmx.com] – NAMIBIA hopes to reach a diamond sales agreement with De Beers before the end of the year, said Bloomberg News which cited the southern African country’s mines and energy minister, Isak Katali.
“Negotiations are progressing well,” said Katali. “We them to conclude before end of December. Cabinet has given us as a deadline, it’s not out of the normal.’
De Beers, an Anglo American subsidiary, and Namibia share their diamond interests in Namdeb Diamond Corporation. The sales agreement will replace an earlier 2007 pact.
