Zuma implicit in Eskom inquiry

[miningmx.com] – PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma was involved in calling for an inquiry at Eskom which involved the suspension of four executives, including CEO Tshediso Matona, said BDLive citing individuals with direct knowledge of the matter.

Im the days preceding the board meeting at which the decision was taken, Zuma contacted acting director-general Matsietsi Mokholo suggesting that the department support the idea of an inquiry, said BDLive.

Asked about the claim, Mokholo said she was unable to comment. Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown also declined to comment, said BDLive.

The publication also reported that Eskom’s financial position had deteriorated further and it was possible that it could receive funding from the government. It had about four weeks before running out of cash to pay suppliers and staff, it said.
