[miningmx.com] – MERAFE Resources increased ferrochrome production 15% for the quarter ended March – an improvement it attributed to additional output from the Project Lion II furnaces.
“The ramp-up of Project Lion II continues to be on track with these furnaces already producing above 80% of operating capacity,” the company said in a statement to the JSE. The venture’s total operating capacity utilisation for the first quarter was 94%.
Merafe said on March 26 that second quarter ferrochrome prices had been settled at $1,08 per pound, a rollover from the price in the first quarter’s prices.
