Froneman confident on platinum deals

[miningmx.com] – Neal Froneman, CEO of Sibanye Gold, said he was confident the company would extract value from its R8.5bn purchases of Rustenburg Mines and Aquarius Platinum.

“We look forward to concluding both transactions as soon as possible and integrating the Rustenburg and Aquarius operations into Sibanye,” said Froneman. “We are confident that significant value will be realised from these world class platinum assets, for the benefit of all Sibanye stakeholders,” he said.

Froneman was commenting after Sibanye shareholders approved the firm’s bid for Rustenburg Mines from Anglo American Platinum for R4.5bn. In a separate meeting, Aquarius Platinum shareholders approved an amalgamation agreement enabling Sibanye to acquire shares in Aquarius Platinum.

“It is extremely pleasing to note the tremendous support shown by the Sibanye and Aquarius shareholders for the acquisitions of the Rustenburg Operations and Aquarius,” said Froneman.
