[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African finance minister, Pravin Gordhan, has called upon the country’s mines and unions to show “spectacular leadership” to end the bitter wage and benefits protests that have helped drag the rand to four year low to the dollar.
Gordhan, speaking in an interview with radio station SAFM, which was quoted by Bloomberg News, said: “This is going to require quite spectacular leadership from all sides, not just from the labour unions’.
“It requires a shift, it requires bold leadership, it requires a give and take by everyone concerned, not in the interests of industry only but also in the interests of the country,’ he said.
