[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) agreed to wage increases of between 8.5% to 7.5% from July 2013 to June 2015 for members at Anglo American Platinum (Amplats).
“We are delighted that NUMSA has accepted our offer and realises that we have provided a fair and reasonable offer to our employees within our financial constraints,” said Chris Griffith, CEO of Amplats.
Commenting on strike action which is being continued by the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU), Griffith said the company acknowledged the union had revised its demands, but added it remained unaffordable.
AMCU’s strike entered its ninth week on March 20.
