
[miningmx.com] – IMPALA Platinum (Implats) expected 2,000 workers striking at its Marula platinum mine to return to work after agreeing to raise areas of dissatisfaction through formal channels.
Said Implats spokesman, Johan Theron, in an interview with Bloomberg News: “They agreed in principle to raise the issues through formal channels. There were a whole bunch of things that they’re not happy with’.
Workers belonging to the National Union of Mineworkers downed tools on July 4, roughly two weeks after the end of a five month strike at the Rustenburg mines of Implats, Anglo American Platinum and Lonmin.
