Platinum firms hopeful of deal next week

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African platinum producers told Bloomberg News they were positive about a wage agreement with the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) next week.

“Our meeting with AMCU has been constructive and we’re hopeful about a positive outcome in the very near future,’ Mpumi Sithole, an Anglo American Platinum spokeswoman, told the newswire service.

Impala Platinum spokesman, Johan Theron said his company’s meeting with the union was still in progress, “but by all accounts we’re making progress.
AMCU treasurer, Jimmy Gama, texted a message to Bloomberg News saying the strike was nearing an end.
