X2 bid for Anglo assets “bit premature”

[miningmx.com] – DOUBTS were cast on a report in the UK’s Sunday Times on November 2 that X2 Resources, a company led by former Xstrata boss, Mick Davis, had bid for base metal and coal assets owned by Anglo American.

Online publication, City AM, cited a source “close to the private company” which said the reports were “a bit premature”.

The Sunday Times said Davis was interested in Anglo American’s copper mines in Chile, Brazilian nickel mines and some coal operations.

Davis famously lodged a merger of equals proposal with Anglo American when he was in charge of Xstrata. Anglo, then led by Cynthia Carroll, rebuffed the approach.
