Mathunjwa desired bargaining council seat

[miningmx.com] – FORMER Lonmin non-executive director, Mahomed Seedat, told the Farlam Commission that Joseph Mathunjwa, president of AMCU, had sought to win a place on the bargaining council at Lonmin’s Marikana mine.

In return, Mathunjwa offered to get miners “off the koppie” where they had assembled in protest, ostensibly about wages at the Lonmin run mine. The Farlam Commission is examining the events that led to the shooting of mineworkers at Marikana in 2012.

“Give me a place at the bargaining table and I will get the workers off the koppie,” BDLive cited Seedat to have said at the commission. Mathunjwa said the allegation was untrue.
