
[miningmx.com] – ESKOM reduced the likelihood of load-shedding this week after if supplied coal to two more units at Majuba power station, said BDLive which cited Andrew Etzinger, spokesperson for the power utility.
“The last two units are now taking in coal, and we’ll start burning it soon,” said Etzinger who added that Majuba had ramped up to 1,200MW and was set to produce 3,200MW from today (Wednesday).
About 3,000MW was knocked out of the South African grid on November 1 when a coal silo at Majuba collapsed. It forced the utility to load-shed on November 2.
