
[miningmx.com] – BHP Billiton would not rebase its dividend post the demerger of its non-core assets into South32, the Australian-headquartered company said following its interim results announcement on February 24.
“This company [BHP Billiton] will continue to grow,” said Peter Beavan, CFO of BHP Billiton. “The progressive dividend is an important part of contract with shareholders. We don’t intend to rebase it post the demerger of South32,” he said.
“South32 will have its own dividend policy. Those dividends will be on top of those paid by BHP Billiton,” he added.
