
[miningmx.com] – A JOINT venture between Chinese companies and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sicomines, is edging towards agreement that will see development of a $660m, 240MW hydropower plant, said Bloomberg News.
“We have discussed the project for a long time and we are now aligned,’ Moise Ekanga, executive secretary of the Office for the Coordination and Monitoring of the Sino-Congolese Program told Bloomberg News.
The DRC loses about 50,000 tonnes a year of copper production due to inadequate power supply, said Bloomberg News.
