[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) had served a strike notice on Northam Platinum, said BDLive citing a statement from the platinum producer. Some 7,000 workers could down tools at Northam’s Zondereinde mine on Sunday.
NUM’s demands translated into an increase of about 22% to 43% for lower category employees, said BDLive. In contrast, Northam offered increases ranging from 7% to 8% for the first year and 7% and 7.5% for year two.
