[miningmx.com] – THE bodies of 10 illegal miners were found dead in the past two days near an abandoned gold mine in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, said Bloomberg News citing a report by the South African Press Association (Sapa).
Five corpses were found there on February 26 and follows the discovery of the bodies of four males and a female on February 25, Sapa said.
Illegal mining costs South Africa about R6bn rand a year, said mines minister, Susan Shabangu said in July, citing a 2010 study.
