
[miningmx.com] – THE Democratic Republic of Congo has delayed a ban on copper and cobalt concentrate exports until next year, said Bloomberg News citing the country’s mines minister, Martin Kabwelulu.
“The moratorium is until December 31, 2013,’ said Kabwelulu commenting on plans to compel mining companies to process metals and minerals in Congo.
Miners had complained that the country doesn’t generate adequate electricity to process all of its minerals and had asked for a delay, said Bloomberg News.
