Coal employers offer 5.6% wage lift

[miningmx.com] – THE Chamber of Mines offered employees in the South African coal sector a 5.6% wage lift and said it was hopeful of a speedy conclusion to negotiations.

“We hope that we can conduct these negotiations in a way which will ensure the continued sustainability of the South African coal mining companies”, the chamber’s negotiator Motsamai Motlhamme said.

Solidarity expressed disappointment at the pay offer saying it fell short of the union’s 10% demand that applied to other benefits.
