Guinea puts Simandou out to tender

[miningmx.com] – GUINEA is to put mining rights to its Simandou iron ore prospect out to tender, said Bloomberg News citing Alpha Conde, the west African country’s president who was speaking on Conakry on November 27.

The rights previously belonged to BSG Resources and Vale before the Guinea government reversed the award. This followed claims by the government it had evidence of corruption by BSG, a company in which Beny Steinmetz is involved.

The tender offer was attracted interest from ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steelmaker, and Glencore, said Bloomberg News citing people familiar with the matter.
