[miningmx.com] — PLATINUM Australia said on Tuesday that underground production at its Smokey Hills mine resumed on Saturday, following disruptions due to blockages to the access road.
Production were halted earlier last week.
“A meeting was held over the weekend with affected parties including community representatives, local authorities and representatives of other mining operations, to move towards ending the blockade of the municipal road which is currently the main access to the Smokey Hills mine,” read a company statement.
“It appears from the meeting that the main issues that some community members have is with other operations adjacent to the community. However, while some progress was made at the meeting to addressing these issues, no progress was made with the central demand that the road must be sealed. As a result the road remains blocked.
“The company will continue to use alternate access routes to maintain production at Smokey Hills while a long term solution is sought by the various affected parties.”
