NUM threatens Eskom strike

[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is threatening strike action at Eskom unless is complies with demands for a 12% wage increase, said BDLive.

The union is also asking for the introduction of a minimum service agreement to reclassify some staff, a R1,000 increase in the housing allowance, as well as the removal of Eskom’s board, said BDLive.

“When there is a problem with supply, with connection and with transmission, blame yourselves and not the workers. We are asking the board to be accountable. All you do is come and collect a board fee and nothing else,” said Frans Baleni, general-secretary of the NUM.
