Zambia relaxes VAT claim rules

[miningmx.com] – ZAMBIA has removed rules preventing mining companies operating in the country from claiming refunds on value added payments, said Bloomberg News. The rules have been relaxed from July 31.

The rules required exporters to establish proof of sale from the destinations to which the metals were exported.

The amendments to the tax regulations were received with “a lot of relief,’ Jackson Sikamo, president of the Zambia’s Chamber of Mines, told Bloomberg News. However, outstanding tax claims before July 31 still required documentation.
