
[miningmx.com] – POLICE in Namibia are searching for a 78 carat diamond after the gem went missing during a recent strike, said Bloomberg News.
Namibia Diamond Trading Company (Namdeb), in which Anglo American diamond business, De Beers, is a partner, told the newswire it had filed a case of theft with police. “We are not commenting on this issue as it will interfere with investigations,’ said Namdeb spokeswoman Pauline Thomas.
A 78 carat diamond mined by BHP Billiton in Canada sold for $6 million in 2011, said Bloomberg News.
