Amplats may have to unbundle shafts

Citing Sibonginkosi Nyanga, an equity research analyst at Imara SP Reid, the newswire said Anglo American Platinum’s (Amplats’) proposed sale of its Rustenburg shafts and Union section may fail which would see it opt for an unbundling and separate listing of the assets.

“Looking at what Glencore did, one could easily infer it will be difficult for Amplats to get what they’re really looking for,” said Nyanga. This “put the second option on the table — that they might end up listing their mines”.
