Randgold bids for Kibali extensions

[miningmx.com] – RANDGOLD Resources has offered to buy a majority stake in Moku-Beverendi, a project in the Democratic Republic of Congo owned by mining entrepreneur, Dan Gertler, said Bloomberg News.

“It’s of interest to us,’ said Mark Bristow, CEO of Randgold, in an interview with Bloomberg News on February 10. “We’ve had discussions in the past and made proposals. If we don’t find anything, well, tiddly pop,’ he said.

Moku-Beverendi has exploration permits adjoining the Kibali gold mine in the DRC. Randgold operates the 600,000 ounce per year Kibali mine in joint venture with AngloGold Ashanti.
