SA sets aside R5bn for mining, technology

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African finance minister, Nhlanhla Nene, set aside R5bn of the country’s R1.24 trilliion budget to mining and technology industries including some R108m for fracking, said Eyewitness News.

“R2.7bn has been allocated over the medium term under the mineral and promotion programme to promote investment in mining,’ said Nene.

“Innovation and technology changes are at the heart of this development strategy. Support for the oceans economy has been allocated R296m for the next three years. This will enhance our climate change research and management of ocean resources.’
