Fatalities strike SA mines

[miningmx.com] – THREE South African mining companies – Wesizwe Platinum, African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) and Keaton Energy – reported fatalities at their operations on April 14.

ARM said in a statement that two employees were fatally injured in an incident at its Khumani Iron Ore Mine on April 12 where production had been halted so that the event could be investigated.

Keaton Energy reported a death – its first ever – as its Vaalkrantz mine in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, whilst Wesizwe Platinum said a miner had been killed at its Bakubung Platinum mine project on April 9.
