Ramatlhodi not obliged to consult Radebe

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African mines minister, Ngoako Ramatlhodi, said he was “not obliged’ to consult Bridgette Radebe, a 26% shareholder in mines owned by Total Coal South Africa (TCSA), who allegedly voiced her opposition to the purchase of TCSA by Exxaro Resources.

According to the Sunday Independent, a newspaper, Ramalthodi said: “No one can hold me ransom. She [Radebe] wants to blackmail me by referring to the mining shares that I have acquired during my divorce proceedings’.

Ramalthodi was referring to shares that came into his possession following his divorce from Ouma Ramatlhodi, a 28% shareholder in Legakabje Mining Exploration.

Radebe had allegedly attempted to hijack Exxaro’s proposed bid for TCSA which was recently approved by Ramalthodi.

Radebe is the wife of Jeff Radebe, minister in the Presidency, and the sister of Patrice Motsepe, executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals, one of South Africa’s largest black-owned mining companies.
