[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African unions have rejected the latest wage offer from the country’s coal industry.
The Chamber of Mines offered wage increases of between 6% and 7% for lower-paid miners, and between 4.5% to 5% for highly-skilled and for higher-paid workers.
However, workers are demanding pay hikes of up to 15% while the National Union of Mineworkers, the largest of the four unions, wants a 50% increase for its lowest paid workers.
