Sable in MoU with CITIC for Lubu coal project

[miningmx.com] – UK-listed Sable Mining has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China’s CITIC with the aim of building a 600MW coal-fired power station at Zimbabwe’s Lubu coalfields.

Sable will provide the coal at its Lubu deposit whilst CITIC will contribute its infrastructure building expertise and access to capital. The Lubu deposit is situated in the north-west of Zimbabwe.

“This will represent a significant step forward in solving the ongoing energy deficit which is currently presenting significant obstacles to development within southern Africa,” said Andrew Groves, CEO of Sable Mining.
