[miningmx.com] – FIRST quarter gold production at the dump retreatment facilities of DRDGold would be down 11% but operating costs would be kept stable at R75 per tonne, the company said in a statement.
The lower output was associated with the introduction of five new leach tanks in the low grade carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit, and the switch-over from carbon in pulp to CIL in the high grade Flotation and Fine Grind Section.
DRDGold has this calendar year re-introduced fine grind technology, which improves the yield of gold retrieved from mined ore, after initially struggling to install it successfully.
The company also said that in an effort to reduce corporate costs, it would report its operating and financial figures twice a year instead of in quarters.
Shareholders will be provided with interim operating and financial results for the period ending 31 December 2015, as soon as reasonably possible following the end of the period, it said.
