Botswana to award Morupule power contract

[miningmx.com] – BOTSWANA will this week award the contract to build a 300MW coal-fired power plant that could make the country an exporter of electricity by 2018, said Reuters.

Citing mining and energy minister, Kitso Mokaila, Reuters said the Morupule plant would take three years to build and will lift Botswana’s power generation capacity to more than 1,000MW, above the national demand of 610MW.

“Hopefully the decision will be made by Thursday,” said Mokaila.
