[miningmx.com] – JULIUS Malema was seeking the support of aggreived miners for his newly launched Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, a strategy that is based on capitalising on government errors, a political analyst told Bloomberg News.
“The EFF is trying to capitalize on a high profile government error, maybe even a government crime, that allows them to identify with the poor people and those most affected by the shooting in that region,’ Daryl Glaser, a political analyst at the University of the Witwatersrand, told Bloomberg News.
On October 13, Malema introduced the EFF to miners at a rally near Lonmin’s Marikana mine where 34 miners were shot dead by police on August 16.
Sapa quoted Malema to have said: “Till today, they are not ashamed of the killing of our people. We are not going to beg for the land. Bring back the land.’
