DRC to take copper output to 750kt

[miningmx.com] – THE Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) could produce as much as 750,000 tonnes of copper this year despite power problems that stemmed full productive capacity, said Bloomberg News.

In an interview with the news agency, Moise Katumbi, governor of the Katanga province where the DRC’s copper is produced, said: “”Today we’re exporting more or less 750,000 tons of copper cathode.”

“If it weren’t for the energy problems, we could already reach a million tons,” Katumbi is quoted to have said.
