[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African mines were becoming safer, said BDLive citing statistics reported in parliament on September 27 which showed in 2012 the lowest number of fatalities ever recorded annually.
In its annual report, The Mine Health and Safety Inspectorate said 112 miners died in 2012 compared with 123 in 2011. The number of fall-of-ground accidents were reduced to 26 from a previous 40.
