Africa growth to reach 4.5% this year

[miningmx.com] – ECONOMIC growth in Africa is expected to accelerate this year owing to oil and mining projects, said Bloomberg News citing a report by the African Development Bank.

“The main engines of growth are expected to be expansion in agricultural production, robust growth in services and a rise in oil production and increased mining activity mainly in resource-rich nations,’ according to the report.

Gross domestic product will rise 4.5% this year from 4.2% in 2012 with expansion likely to reach 5.2% by 2014, said the report which was released in Marrakech in Morroco. The data excluded Libya and Somalia.
