CoM ‘apprehensive’ as strike threat builds

[miningmx.com] – ELIZE Strydom, chief negotiator at the Chamber of Mines of SA, said she was ‘apprehensive’ ahead of possible strike action at the country’s largest platinum mines.

The Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) has certificates of non-resolution from the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) following failed wage negotiations with Lonmin, Anglo American Platinum and Impala Platinum.

BDLive quoted Strydom saying she was apprehensive as miners returnd to work this week, and that the three platinum miners would be on “high alert” as AMCU prepared to seek worker mandates for protected strike action.
