[miningmx.com] – PETMIN, a Johannesburg-listed anthracite miner, shrugged off the effects of lower anthracite production in the six months to December reporting a 29% improvement in interim profits, said BDLive.
Anthracite sales volumes from its Somkhele colliery in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province were down 6% at 349,414 tonnes partly owing to lower demand. The colliery had been previously affected by a strike.
The mining group, however, expected production volumes at Somkhele to improve by at least 20% in the six months to June 2014, said BDLive.
