Rio litigation won’t affect Simandou project

[miningmx.com] – A dispute with Vale over rights to Simandou, the world’s largest undeveloped iron ore deposit, would not affect its development, Bloomberg News quoted Rio Tinto to have said.
“Rio Tinto wishes to clarify that this is a damages claim, and not a claim for reinstatement of the mining titles in question, nor in any way an action against the government,’ Alan Davies, CEO of Rio Tinto’s diamonds and minerals told Bloomberg News.
Rio Tinto last month sued Vale, Israeli billionaire Beny Steinmetz and his mining company saying they conspired to steal rights to Simandou which is expected to cost about $20bn to develop.
