AMCU rejects Government wage proposal

[miningmx.com] – THE Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) have rejected a government-backed proposal aimed at settling a strike in the platinum sector which enters its 20th week today, said BDLive.

“We hope the minister is engaging with the producers,” Joseph Mathunjwa, president of AMCU, was quoted by BDLive to have said. “Our position is clear; we want R12,500.

“The government proposal was not a new proposal. They introduced (an old proposal) that has already been rejected by our members three months ago,” said Mathunjwa.
